Level 1

Instructor

Level One is the foundation of the KRI teacher training path. It is a 220-hour program open to anyone who wants to understand Kundalini Yoga more deeply and learn how to share it with others.

The program includes 180 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of independent study. A central part of the training is the repeated practice of 40-day commitments — each one assigned with a specific kriya or meditation. Over the course of the program, students complete several of these cycles, each with a different practice. This is how the training builds direct personal experience: not through a single 40-day practice, but through multiple cycles that develop consistency, self-awareness, and familiarity with the technology of Kundalini Yoga from the inside. The training also includes teaching practicums, group sadhanas, and participation in an intensive meditation course.

Because of the nature of these requirements, Level One is not a short course. Most students complete it over a period of six months to one year, depending on the format and training school. KRI allows up to two years for the completion of all certification requirements.

Upon completion, graduates earn the title of KRI Certified Instructor of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®. This certification is recognized internationally by KRI and connects teachers to the IKYTA global teacher community.
