Why Your National Association Matters
Your National Association is more than an administrative structure. It is a local home for teachers.
It is where teachers in your country can connect, share resources, organize community initiatives, support one another, and participate in the continued growth of Kundalini Yoga locally.
By joining your National Association, you strengthen both your local teacher community and the global network of Kundalini Yoga teachers connected through IKYTA.
Membership may also support your professional visibility, including opportunities connected to the IKYTA Teacher Directory and other membership benefits currently being developed.
Your Local Community, Your Global Network
Every country has its own language, culture, teaching realities, and community needs. National Associations help respond to those needs from within the local community.
At the same time, they are part of a larger international field of teachers, associations, trainers, and organizations serving the future of Kundalini Yoga.
IKYTA is working to strengthen communication, collaboration, teacher support, and membership value so that National Associations and teachers feel more connected, supported, and recognized.
If Your Country Does Not Have a Recognized Association
If your country does not currently have a recognized National Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association, there may be an opportunity to begin a conversation with other teachers in your community.
Creating an NKYTA is a meaningful step. It requires shared purpose, responsible leadership, clear communication, and a sincere commitment to serve teachers.
First Steps to Create an NKYTA
Here are some ways to begin:
- Bring together KRI-certified teachers who feel called to serve and explore whether there is readiness to organize an NKYTA or a clearly defined constituency within a country.
- Consult with KRI Teacher Trainers, local leaders, and experienced teachers as supportive voices in the process.
- Talk with local or regional teacher groups and invite their participation, especially where geographic, linguistic, or community distinctions may help shape how the association is formed.
- Invite all KRI-certified teachers in the community you seek to serve to join the conversation.
- Explore together why you want to form an NKYTA and what purpose it would serve.
- Clarify which teachers are willing and able to contribute leadership, time, and organizational skills.
- Begin the conversation with IKYTA to initiate the formal process. Email us at [email protected] or use our contact form here.
IKYTA Organizational Principles
These Organizational Principles express the spirit that guides NKYTAs recognized by IKYTA.
They are intended to support healthy leadership, meaningful participation, transparent communication, and responsible service within the Kundalini Yoga teacher community.
These principles may apply to one recognized NKYTA within a country or, where appropriate, to more than one recognized association serving distinct geographic, linguistic, or other meaningful constituencies within a country.
- Create a nurturing environment in which each teacher can grow to their full potential.
- Nurture self-guidance, healthy cooperation, and collaboration among teachers, as well as with individuals, organizations, and communities in our global family.
- Create processes that meaningfully involve those who are directly relevant to or affected by a decision.
- Place authority, exercise power, and use resources at the most local level that appropriately includes all relevant and affected parties.
- Create no intrinsic advantage and no intrinsic disadvantage for any individual or group.
- Foster a free, transparent, and graceful flow of information among all individuals and all parts of the organization.
- Recognize and honor wisdom, expertise, and all thoughts and actions grounded in higher consciousness and selfless service.
- Encourage and foster sharing, mutual support, collective enrichment, and trust in abundance.
- Promote the development and growth of the Kundalini Yoga community, and work to uphold the integrity and coherence of the whole.
- Maintain the highest standards of personal and professional integrity, accountability, and performance.
- When conflict arises, seek resolution in a way that serves the needs of all parties through deep listening and loving, respectful communication.
