Everything you need to know about IKYTA membership — who can join, what each level includes, how your teacher profile works, and where to go if you need help.
Eligibility
IKYTA membership is open exclusively to teachers who hold a valid KRI Level 1 certification — the KRI Certified Instructor of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®. Membership is not open to the general public, students currently in training, or teachers certified by organizations other than KRI.
Yes — provided you also hold KRI Level 1. Level 1 is the foundational requirement for all IKYTA membership tiers. Advanced certifications are recognized and welcomed, but they do not replace the Level 1 requirement. If you completed Level 2 or Level 3 without Level 1, you are not yet eligible.
Not yet. IKYTA membership is open only to teachers who have received their official KRI certification diploma. The moment your Level 1 certification is issued by KRI, you are eligible to join. To find a KRI-approved training near you, visit kundaliniresearchinstitute.org.
No. IKYTA membership requires KRI certification. Credentials issued by Yoga Alliance or any other organization — even those covering Kundalini Yoga — do not meet the eligibility requirement.
Membership Tiers
IKYTA offers three levels of membership, designed to meet teachers at different stages of their path:
Free (Connected) — Your place in the IKYTA community from the day you are certified. Includes a public teacher profile, all IKYTA email updates, access to the bi-annual Global Teacher Forum, festival teacher days, and standard support. Free, always.
NKYTA (Association) — Held through your country’s National Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association. Includes everything in Free, plus directory listing on 3HO, the ability to publish your events on IKYTA, full profile features (photos, links, call-to-action buttons), NKYTA spotlights and quarterly meetings, member discounts, and specialized teacher support. Fees are set locally by your association.
Premium (Full professional presence) — The most complete membership level, at $108/year. Includes everything in NKYTA, plus a full professional profile (offerings, studio, video, pricing), event publishing on both IKYTA and 3HO, your yoga studio or center listed on 3HO, 3HO Premium membership included and auto-activated, teacher spotlight, and Premium-specific discounts.
NKYTA stands for National Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association. These are the country-level associations affiliated with IKYTA. NKYTA membership is held through your country’s association — not purchased directly through IKYTA — and the fee is set locally. If your country has an active NKYTA, joining through them gives you the full NKYTA benefit set within the global IKYTA network.
Use the association finder on the IKYTA membership page to locate the NKYTA in your country. If no association exists in your country yet, Free membership is your starting point — and Premium is available to you directly.
Premium adds the following on top of everything in NKYTA:
Full professional profile — offerings, classes, mentorship, retreats, workshops, trainings, public rates and pricing, short presentation video, and teaching history
Your events published on 3HO in addition to IKYTA (requires accepting 3HO’s terms and conditions)
Your yoga studio or center listed on 3HO
3HO Premium membership included, automatically activated
Teacher spotlight in IKYTA communications
Premium-specific discounts and benefits
Yes. Every KRI-certified teacher is welcome to join IKYTA at no cost through the Free (Connected) tier. You receive a public teacher profile, all IKYTA email updates, access to the Global Teacher Forum, and standard support — from the day you are certified, with no expiration.
Teacher Profile & Directory
Yes. Every IKYTA member at every tier receives a public teacher profile page with a permanent URL — from day one, at no cost. Your profile is yours as long as you are a member.
Every member has a public profile page. To appear in the searchable IKYTA teacher directory — where students can find you by location, language, and teaching format — you need to complete four minimum profile fields: your country, teaching language, teaching format, and Level 1 certification. Directory listings are ordered by profile completeness and membership tier. NKYTA and Premium members are also listed in the 3HO teacher directory, which receives approximately five million visits per year.
Profile features vary by tier:
Free: Public profile page, teaching languages, format, certification level, class locations, and class schedule.
NKYTA: Everything in Free, plus profile photos, website and social links, and call-to-action buttons.
Premium: Everything in NKYTA, plus a full professional profile — your offerings (classes, mentorship, retreats, workshops, trainings), public rates and pricing, a short presentation video, and your teaching history (teacher since, teaching hours, countries taught).
NKYTA and Premium members can publish their events directly on IKYTA. Premium members can also choose to have their events published on 3HO, reaching a broader international audience. Publishing on 3HO requires accepting 3HO’s terms and conditions; publishing on IKYTA does not.
Benefits & Discounts
Member discounts are available to NKYTA and Premium members. NKYTA members access discounts specific to their national association and the broader 3HO–IKYTA ecosystem. Premium members receive an additional set of Premium-specific discounts on selected events, courses, trainings, and resources. A full benefits and discounts page is available to eligible members after login.
All IKYTA members receive a free 3HO membership, synchronized with their IKYTA account. Premium members receive 3HO Premium membership included in their subscription — activated automatically, with no separate registration required.
All members are welcome at the bi-annual Global Teacher Forum and festival teacher days at Summer Solstice (SSOL), Winter Solstice (WSOL), European Yoga Festival (EYF), and the Chilean Festival. NKYTA members also participate in quarterly association meetings and the monthly Ask the Sangat teacher poll. Premium members are eligible to be featured at the Global Teacher Forum and spotlighted in IKYTA communications.
Joining & Renewal
To join, you will need your KRI Level 1 certification (diploma issued by KRI), your full legal name as it appears on your certification, your country of residence, and a valid email address. If you hold Level 2 or Level 3 certifications and want them reflected in your profile, you may provide those credentials during the application as well.
If you hold your KRI Level 1 certification, you can join directly at the link below. To join at the NKYTA level, locate your national association first — fees and registration are handled through your country’s association.
